Deston Rogers has over 30 years of Radio Broadcasting experience that started at the age of 14 in his hometown of Bishop, California, while he was a freshman in high school. “I learned a lot about radio in those early days (no cd’s then..good ol’ 45’s and 33’s). It was there that I was taught the importance of being connected to your community” said Deston of those early years. Since that time, Deston has worked in Palm Springs, Los Angeles, Visalia, Mammoth Lakes California, Elko Nevada and Moab Utah. “I’ve done just about everything in radio, and yes, janitor is on that list. Don’t tell anyone, but I even changed a tower light bulb..not once but TWICE...it’s amazing what you’ll do for an extra $50”.
In addition to developing and Hosting his own show, The Independent Country Countdown, Deston was nominated as Country Music Director of the Year by New Music Weekly Magazine in 2005. Deston was the Host of the “Music History Class” on the Independent Music Networks Weekly Syndicated Country Show and was the Co-host of the Independent Music Network’s Sizzlin’ Summer Hits Radio Special (both Country and Mainstream Formats) in July 2018.
It was while he was in Elko that he met Iliad CEO Darrell Calton when Darrell was the Station Manager of KRJC-FM & KTSN-AM. “I’ve always respected Darrell both as a boss and as a great friend. Darrell has the unique ability to bring together the right people to get the job done. I’m looking forward to working with Darrell on this new endeavor” commented Deston.
Deston will be handling Mid-days on The Bull, 102.1FM, in Twin Falls, and will be working within the Programming Department for the Iliad Media Group of Stations.
